The PA Shooting Stars are a Premier Junior Olympic Fastpitch Softball and a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, based in South Central Pennsylvania. We are also official B2B fastpitch softball teams. All our players have special memberships at B2B, providing almost year round access to this outstanding indoor facility.
Many fastpitch softball organizations have a focus on building up the local high schools' program. Some may have the goal of highlighting a specific player or small local group of players. These are fine and legitimate targets.
The PA Shooting Stars have a very different and expanded vision. The goal of The Stars is to provide an atmosphere of dedicated training and quality competition for female athletes in the sport of Fastpitch Softball, with a focus on eventually playing at the college level. As such, our pool of players is normally much broader, drawing the top players from Berks, Chester, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York Counties. We have begun to see players coming from as far as Bedford, Juniata and northern Maryland! By the time Stars are competing at the 14U level, they usually have their sights set on playing NCAA fastpitch softball at the college level. You will find our 16U and 18U Showcase teams attending College Showcase Tournaments.
Over the years, the PA Shooting Stars have seen over 30 young ladies make their way to playing in college ranks, many receiving scholarships. You can see some of the former Stars players who have gone on to play in college by going to the Stars in College page.
Coaches for the Stars come to our organization with a deep wealth of fastpitch softball knowledge. Of the 6 teams we are fielding for the 2011 season, they have a combined 40+ years of fastpitch softball coaching experience. You will also note that many of our head coaches have NO child of their own playing on the team. We have a two tiered approach, whereby coaches focus on the individual players skill improvement, combined with giving the teams high level competition. While players dictate the number of teams at each age group, the goal is to have 2 teams at each age level in the next few years.
